Park City
Tuesday 10 February 2004

Weather

Sunlight all day, but bitterly cold, maximum well below freezing.

Conditions

Pretty good, starting to tire on the more popular slopes.

Story of the Day

We started the day with breakfast in the condo before setting out for Park City and parking in the garage area under the Resort Center.

On a beautiful morning, Chris and I started as we did most days at Park City, with Eagle lift, Temptation run and a couple of runs from King Con lift.

On such a beautiful morning, we decided that this was the time to try Blueslip Bowl. To get there, we needed to get higher than the Summit house. One run down Silver Jack and Thaynes lift achieved the objective.

Snow conditions were pretty good, so Blueslip Bowl was not difficult, so we decided to head for the most challenging terrain in Park City, Jupiter Bowl.

At the top of Jupiter lift, our first run was down the main bowl.

For our second run, we went back to one of the best experiences from the previous year. From the top of Jupiter, we turned right anfd traversed across to Scott's Bowl and then down Thaynes Canyon to Thaynes lift.

After a second run down Blueslip Bowl we stopped at Mid Mountain for a mid morning break and then took a number of runs off Pioneer lift before going down to the Resort Center for lunch, one of the more difficult ways via the long narrow Shaft run, mogulled with some bushes showing through.

After lunch, we took a couple of runs with Sue and then spent the afternoon cruising around almost the whole resort, mostly on groomed blue runs.

By the end of the afternoon, we had clocked up in excess of 27,000 vertical feet, with a challenging morning and a relaxing afternoon.
